Experience one of the most spectacular coastal events of the year during King Tides. Every year, the stormy season rolls in, and the larger tidal events are called King Tides. These signify larger waves and higher tide levels that allow for some incredible photography opportunities.

Cape Disappointment is located on the border of Washington and Oregon, right on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. This location has become famous for King Tides because of its beaches located next to a rock face with a lighthouse above. This view is incredible and iconic for coastal photography.

During this workshop, we will stay in two lodges, one located in Astoria, an iconic and charming coastal town, and one closer to the park with natural views of the oceanside. We will go out during peak high tides to witness these waves crashing against each other and the cliff faces. We will spend our down time in the hotel, going over photo editing and photos taken during the workshop.

5-Day Washington Coast Photography Workshop Itinerary

Day 1 – Seattle → Oceanside, WA

Meet at seatac airport. Drive to coast. Check into hotel in Oceanside, short photography and location scouting. Workshop overview.

Day 2 – King Tides + Forest Photography

King Tides in the morning. Forest Photography session in the afternoon.

Day 3 – King Tides + Editing Session → Astoria

King Tides session, photo editing session in the afternoon. Check into a new hotel in Astoria.

Day 4 – King Tides Session + Fort Stevens State Park

King Tides session, Fort Stevens afternoon photography.

Day 5 – Astoria → Seattle

Travel back to Seattle, stopping at several photo spots along the way.

Tour ends at Seatac airport, Seattle, schedule flights after 2 PM.

50% due to secure a spot in the workshop.

Remainder due 2 months before tour. (November 21 2026)

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel more than 6 months before the tour start date, we can refund 50% of the deposit.
Cancellations made within 2 months of departure are non-refundable.

Because our tours require advance bookings and limited group sizes, we strongly recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance for added protection.
